Fishing Report
Starting out early, 0600, this time of year means you will be steering with one hand while holding a flashlight in your other hand scanning for crab traps. After playing dodge with the plethora of crab traps in the area, we finally arrived to our location. After rigging a preferred soft plastic, Army Ranger Major Toby Magsig sprang to the front of the deck with me as I ran the trolling motor. We were quickly entertained with the loud pop of a nearby Snook eating his early morning breakfast. As we moved along the mangroves we looked for anything suspicious that would take our lure. Like a rabbit out of a hat, tails appeared and waved in the air like a flag on the 4th of July. We made a quick cast; it was an immediate hook up! The fight was on! I would have bet my last dollar that the Major had a nice Redfish, instead it was a 5-pound Trout. The dark morning rapidly turned into day and the fishing slow down. We were privileged to later boat a nice slot sized Redfish and were able to spot several other small schools of Red’s that did not want to participate in the angling fun. Toby and his dad, Chuck, had a lot of fun today.

Fishing Report
Today I fished with Mark and Kim from Atlanta GA. I would like to say congratulations to Mark and Kim on their 25th year wedding anniversary.
Today was a(n) anniversary gift to Mark from his wife, and I can’t think of a better gift for a wife to give her husband than a fishing trip. The morning started out great with some nice Trout action. We were able to boat several Trout, 4 were slot-sized fish in the 2-3 pound range. We then moved onto Snook. If you have read any of my past reports on Snook, I am sure you know how humbling they can be. Sad but true Mark learned the fun way that Snook can humble the most experienced fisherman. We were able to get on some very nice Snook in the river, 10-12 pound class fish. The Snook, holding true to form, gave us a fit. We did get 5 takers, but we were unable to get them into the boat. Sometimes, this just happens. Snook 5: angler 0. I’m sorry Mark. I look forward to fishing with Mark and Kim again next year, and watching Mark land some nice Snook.

Be safe and have fun,

Summertime Fishing Round Up – June, July, August
Although it is hot in Florida from about April to mid September, I consider June, July and August as the summer months of fishing.
This summer has been hot and the fishing has been great. This past summer I had numerous clients catch very large Redfish by any standard and some very nice Trout. I now look forward to the beginning of Snook season and all the fun it brings. Now I want you all to know that we will still go after those Giant Redfish and Trout, but now we can start to focus on those Big Brawling Snook as well. Starting September 1st, I will be offering one of a kind nighttime Snook Charters. If you are interested in a different kind of fishing experience, I want to encourage you to book a nighttime Snook charter.
If nighttime fishing is not your thing, don’t worry because we will still have a fun fishing adventure during the day.

Below are photos of some of the fish caught this summer.

I look forward to fishing with you,
Capt Marc Mouery

Little Fisherman!
Fishing, in regards to children, is all about catching. Quantity will always over rule quality. Because of this simple fact, the size of fish that are caught are small in comparison to the large Redfish, Trout and Snook that I stalk with my adult clients.
One would think that large fish are more rewarding to catch when compared to small fish, but to see the excitement on a child’s face when they reel in a fish by themselves is far more rewarding. This is Able, and this is his first Trout. By many standards this is a small Trout, only 1.5 pounds, but to Able this Trout is gigantic. Holding true to form, able and his mom caught countless Trout, Ladyfish and Mangrove Snapper. Needless to say, Able had an absolute blast.

Take a kid fishing, and see what it is like to get excited.
